Universal Design of Auditory Signals

Auditory signals are used for various purposes; e.g. signaling danger, warning of malfunction, notification of an incoming message, operational feedback, and indicating the beginning and end of an operation. These sounds should be designed to convey messages. Auditory signals are useful for people with normal senses and are essential for the blind. The universal design of auditory signals would make people easy to understand and memorize. To obtain basic data for the design of auditory signals, we determined the functionary imagery and onomatopoeic representation of auditory signals. We also determined the design specifications of auditory signals and announcements required by the blind in public spaces.
